Thénioux is a small village in the wooded Sologne area, with its many castles, in the Cher department region Centre. Situated at a 100 meters above sea level and has about 650 inhabitants. The mild climate is on average 5 ° C warmer than in the Netherlands. The nearest town is 10 minutes away; Vierzon - famous for its silk museum and porcelain route. Thénioux is a perfect starting point for a car, bike or hiking trip (GR 41) along the vineyards and chateaux of central France or for a visit to one of the many golf courses in the area.
Besides touristic wine routes, you can also drive along the Loire castles route. The Loire Valley is listed, due to the presence of numerous castles, by the UNESCO as world cultural heritage. Magnificent castles worth a visit include Chambord, Chenonceaux, Cheverny, Chaumont, Valençay, Blois and Amboise.
Within 10 minutes from Chateau de la Brosse, turn off at "Golf de la Picardiere" the 18-hole golf course of Vierzon and within an hour you will find 20 other golf courses, which are diverse and have something for everyone.
For cyclists there is 300 km of routes along the beautiful woods, the lovely countryside, wine area’s, castles and the Loire. In addition, cities like Bourges and Tours have bicycle parking where you can take your bike off the car and explore the town via bicycle lanes.
Château de la Brosse is on the GR41 which joins the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostella. From our estate you can stroll to the beautiful forests of the Sologne with its numerous castles and lakes. Several signposted walks in the area.
In the picturesque town of Romorantin you find the Espace automobiles Matra. Here you can see a display which shows how the brand Avantime won the 24-hour race at Le Mans three time in the 70s.
Between Thore la Rochtette and Trôo an authentic diesel train from the 50s runs along a 36 km long track through the Loir Valley.

Restaurants, food & wine
From Thénioux drive northwest towards Touraine. This region, which is characterized by its royal past, has a rich wine history. The wines from Touraine are diverse: red, white, rosé and sparkling. They includes Vouvray and Montlouis that can be tasted in the city of Tours. This ancient royal city with attractive terraces deserves a visit during your route through the vineyards of the Loire. If you go downstream, you will pass the fairytale castles of Villandry and Azay-le-Rideau. The vineyards of Chinon, which produces full-bodied red wines, lie where the rivers Vienne and Loire meet. Across the river in the soft sunshine of the Loire, grow the grapes of Bourgueil and Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil.
When leaving Thénioux in a south-easterly direction drive from Bourges to Châteaumeillant. This place is known for its "vin gris" (wine that is light pink) being drunk while still young. West of Bourges delicious dry wines are produced in Reuilly and Quincy, the cradle of the saugvignon grape. Northbound over Bourges you can enjoy the famous Sancerre wines.
All the villages around Thénioux have a weekly market, obviously the bigger cities like Vierzon, Tours, Bourges, Blois, etc. have larger and specialized markets and flea markets.
